Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your studio located?

104 S. Church Street Suite B  Hahira, GA 31632

Studio is in the same parking lot as Hahira’s City Hall and Kelly Barr State Farm Agency (You will see the big red state farm letters on the building) When you see the TEAL FRENCH DOORS in the parking lot, you’re in the right place!

FROM I-75: Take exit 29 towards Hahira’s Mainstreet/Hwy 122. At the first red light, turn right onto S. Church Street/Hwy 41. The studio is on the right.

FROM US 41: The studio is to the left right BEFORE you get to the red light. If you go through the red light towards the post office, you’ve gone too far.

***Please note that GPS may try and take you to the Hahira post office. Our google pin has not been working properly. If you pass the post office, you’ve gone the opposite way! (see map)

You can reach me at 229-563-3107 during the hours of M-TH (9am-5pm) No calls after hours please.

Studio is open by appointment only.

When should I book my session?

Portraits: I typically book 3-6 months in advance. However, contact me to see if I have your needed date available.** Please note that when choosing a session date, turnaround times can be up to 3 weeks. Please make sure to choose a date that will give you plenty of time if you are planning on using photos for parties or cards.**

Maternity: Since I tend to book portrait sessions several months in advance, this goes for maternity sessions as well. I like to photograph moms-to-be between 30-36 weeks. Please contact me well in advance so we can schedule your maternity session within that window.

Newborns: Please book your newborn session before your baby is born. Newborn sessions are usually booked in the 2nd trimester. If your baby is already born, please contact me because I may have an opening available.

Are you Licensed and insured?

YES! Meredith Klapp Photography is both licensed and insured.

What kind of qualifications or certifications do you have?

After earning my bachelors degree in Fine Arts at Valdosta State University, I earned my Art Education Certification. I taught Art to children (Prek-5th grade) for 10 years in the public school system, which gives me experience with children of multiple ages. I taught both in Valdosta City schools and in Lowndes County where I received the Teacher Of The Year award at Dewar Elementary in 2013. I left teaching in 2015 to pursue my photography career full time. Since then, I have attended numerous newborn and photography workshops to further my photography education. I am also the first photographer in the area to earn my APNPI certification (Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International) where I passed rigorous portfolio evaluations as well as passing a newborn safety course.

How does scheduling a newborn session work?

When you book your newborn session, select a date that is closest to your approximate due date. This will not be your actual session date, you are just reserving your space around that time. Once your baby is born, email me to let me know your baby is here. Then we will book your exact session date.

What is the best way to contact you?

Email is definitely the best way to get in touch with me. Just click on the “contact” tab, or email me at meredithklappphotography@gmail.com. I am quick to respond to emails, and you will get a response to your questions ASAP. Evenings and weekends are reserved for my family, so I do not answer calls outside of those hours. Email is always the quickest and easiest way to contact me with questions.

Please avoid using Facebook or Instagram messenger as I do not always receive these messages.

229-563-3107 during the hours of M-TH (9am-5pm) No calls after hours please.

Why do outdoor family portrait sessions take place in the evening?

The golden warm look you see in a lot of my photos comes from the ideal lighting conditions that take place about hour or two before sunset. If the sun sets at 8:00pm, your session will generally take place at 6:30 to give you that beautiful glow that takes place during the “golden hour.” Some families ask if they can schedule a session at an earlier time, however, I would not recommend it. Harsh shadows tend to be present, and you will not get the beautiful golden look if you choose a different time of day. I do have 10am spots available, however I reserve this time for newborns and baby sessions. All family sessions are scheduled during evening hours to ensure you get the most beautiful family portraits possible. I promise it will be worth it to shift around your schedule for a day to get those gorgeous photos!

What are your business hours?

My contact hours are Monday – Thursday 9am to 5pm

I schedule all sessions Monday – Thursday, and I am closed Friday – Sunday

*Outdoor sessions may be scheduled later in the evenings, but my office contact hours are 9am-5pm.

Why don’t you schedule family portrait sessions on the weekends?

Time with my family is extremely precious to me.  All sessions are scheduled during the week days (M-Th), so I can devote my time to my loved ones on the weekends.  I know this may be tricky to work around with schedules, but my family time is my top priority. Thank you for understanding!

How do I prepare for my session?

Both newborn and family portrait session clients will receive a detailed prep guide to help you plan and prepare before your session. It includes details on what to wear and what to bring! I will also send you a link to fill out a brief questionnaire to help me prepare and tailor your session just for you!

Do you travel for sessions?

If sessions are booked far enough in advance where I can plan ahead, am happy to travel for a family portrait session. However, there is a travel fee of .75 per mile for distances over 30 miles from 31632. Please inquire for travel pricing if needed. Mini sessions are not available for travel. Family portrait sessions take place at an outdoor location. I have a favorite location for sessions, but I also love letting the family decide on the location to create a unique portrait backdrop. If you do not know of a location, I would be happy to give you directions to my favorite spot!

At this time I do not travel for newborn sessions unless there is a serious medical issue that will not allow baby to leave his/her home. All newborn sessions take place in my studio in Valdosta, GA.

Do you have all the props for my newborn session?

I do! I have tons of hats, hair accessories, cute little pants, wraps, baskets, and other props for your session. I try to make it to where you don’t have to bring anything but your baby and milk! I have all you will need for your session, unless you would like to bring in something special.

What types of payment methods do you accept?

I accept check, cash, money orders, and credit card payments securely through Paypal.

Can we bring grandparents, aunts/uncles /cousins to the session?

For Newborn Seasions: Due to limited space and warmth in the studio (80 degrees for baby’s comfort) I ask that you limit additional guests at the session. Any photographs outside of immediate family are as time allows, and there is an additional fee of $50 per photo.

For Family Sessions: For larger groups with extended family members (such as grandparents)  please ask for a quote. Separate family groups (aunts, uncles, cousins) will need to pay a separate session fee.

May we take pictures at our session?

Absolutely no videos or professional DSLR’s are permitted during any session. However, I do not mind phone snapshots during your newborn session to document this special time!

Can we copy poses and photos I saw on Pinterest?

I enjoy parents input, but please keep in mind that the photos you see on my website or Facebook are a representation of my particular work style, and most of your session will tend to reflect that soft organic look. I will be happy to incorporate any props you bring, but ask that you keep them to a minimum, and limit them to sentimental items. However, there are some poses I do not feel are safe for your baby, and those poses I will not do. Your baby’s safety and comfort are my number one priority.

How do I book?

A $200 retainer fee is required to book your date along with filling out an online contract. Your date is not booked until the retainer is paid. You will have 7 days to pay the retainer, and after 7 days your date will be released to the next client in line.

The $200 retainer is put toward your total session price, and the remaining balance is due at the time of your session. Your retainer is non-refundable;  however if you need to cancel, you may use that retainer towards another session at a later time.

Contact me to schedule your session. Or, if you are ready to go, click on the button below and select a date! Then you’re all set!

When and how will I get my photos?

After your session has been paid in full, your photos will be hand edited and retouched. I take time to make sure each photo in your gallery is perfect! They will be ready for you to view in your private online gallery within 3 weeks. You will receive a notification email, and a link + password when they are ready to view.

From your gallery you will be able to download your high resolution files and print them with a print release at your convenience. Your photos are presented in a special online gallery where you can download them instantly with one click. No more waiting for a CD to be mailed to you! Clients love the simplicity of being able to download them easily from their gallery!

Your notification email will contain instructions on how to download your files, (it is quick and easy!) and it will have a suggestion as to where you can have them printed on your own. If you prefer to purchase prints from me, a variety of sizes of fine art prints and canvases are available for purchase in your gallery.

Do you give out CD’s?  No- Since a lot of newer computers are now getting rid of CD drives all together, I do not offer CDs. Your online gallery is designed so you can download your images instantly to your computer. However, if you wish to purchase a USB drive from me, I can supply a USB at an additional cost.

Can I order prints or canvases through you?

Absolutely! In your gallery you will be able to purchase high end gallery wrap canvases, and archival quality prints in a variety of sizes for your home!

How much does a session cost?

I offer a variety of sessions including Baby’s First Year Packages, Full Newborn &  Newborn Mini sessions, Maternity & Newborn Combinations, Toddler Mini Sessions, Cake Smash sessions, as well as Child & Family portrait sessions.

I have multiple packages, and prices ranging from $450 – $2,500 to fit all of your portrait needs.

  • Kristen StephensHi there:)
I’ve been following your work for a while, and I was wondering if you do any mentoring for other photographers? I love your style, consistency and editing. I live in South Florida so we wouldn’t be in similar markets.

    Thanks so much!!

    Kristen Stephens

  • CrystaI saw on your website that you are not doing wedding photos right now but what about an engagement picture session? I am trying to find the best photographer and your work is terrific! Also when do you plan on taking wedding photos if you decide to do it? Thank you so much for time! I look forward to hearing back from you!

  • Meredith KlappHi Crysta! Thank you so much! I’m so sorry, but I am not doing wedding or engagement photography in the foreseeable future. But thank you so much for thinking of me! Congratulations on your engagement! I am so happy for you, and wish you the best!

  • Meredith KlappHi Kristen,
